Chamber Communicator – April – June/2016


Chamber Chatters

Chamber Chatters are highly visible, prestigious volunteers that work to shape the future of the Chamber and serves as an advocate for the organization. They represent the Chamber at grand openings, ribbon cuttings and other special events like the annual meeting and Sounds of Summer. Considered the goodwill arm of the Chamber, the Chamber Chatters committee plays an essential role in member recruitment, communication and retention. Chamber Chatters attend chamber functions as required and meet as needed.

BYHALIA BEAUTIFUL

This group works in the community by serving as an advisory group to the City Council on projects to beautify our area. They help identify projects and establish priorities and then implement those projects that are approved and funded. Past projects have included the distribution of dogwood trees and Crepe Myrtles, landscaping at various intersections, welcome signs, and the clean-up of sites throughout the area.

EDUCATION

The Education Committee exists to support education efforts in Marshall County. Programs exist that recognize students and educators for outstanding achievements in the classroom. In addition, the committee focuses on projects designed to help students make the proper choices to succeed in life.  Please contact Chamber if interested in chairing this program 662-838-8127.


UNITY

The Unity Committee exists to plan and develop a communication effort in order to promote harmony, equality, and unity through a greater understanding of diversity. By initiating round table discussion which focus on issues impacting schools, neighborhoods and work places as well as individuals within the community, this committee will attempt to identify and put in motion solutions to these issues. Through this cooperative and unified effort, this committee will make Byhalia an even greater place to live. If interested in chairing this committee please contact the Chamber at 662-838-8127

SPECIAL EVENTS

This committee is actually made up of several smaller sub-committees and coordinates such events as: Chamber Celebration, the Membership Drive, Sounds of Summer, White Oak Classic Golf Tournament, and other special events throughout the year. You can choose to work on all the events or just those that you have a specific interest in.

Downtown Historic Committee

Efforts to redevelop Byhalia’s historic business/residential district is the goal of this group through positive attitude activity, cleanliness, safety, political unity and architectural integrity.  New events such as Old Fashioned market Days and Holiday Tours will bring positive activity downtown.

SENIOR AMBASSADORS

This group is made up of retired volunteers 60 years or older. They offer service such as mailing, stuffing, collating, folding, and other projects free to the Chamber. Their future plan is to also offer their services free to Chamber Members as a way to give to the community and to keep themselves busy.
